Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art with an emphasis on ground fighting techniques like chokes, strangles, and joint locks that can force your opponent to submit, without necessarily injuring them. Brazilian Jiu-Jits is also sometimes called BJJ or Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was popularized by the Gracie family, who started the Ultimate Fighting Championship to show the world how effective it was against other fighting styles. Aaron’s first teacher Royce Gracie used BJJ to defeat much larger and stronger fighters in the first UFC tournaments, and that success in the cage ignited the current explosion in popularity that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is experiencing today
