Aaron has had a lifelong fascination with fitness, martial arts, and peak performance. This interest led Aaron to start training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with The Gracie Family in the mid 1990s. He received his Blue Belt in 1997 from Royce and Helio Gracie. In 1998 Aaron started training under Joe Moreira after watching Joe’s iconic Panther Video Series. Soon after that, Aaron started making month long pilgrimages to California to train with Joe and it wasn’t long before Joe started traveling to Maine, so the two were together almost continuously. Aaron received his purple belt in 2001, his brown belt in 2003, and his black belt in 2005, all from Joe Moreira. Aaron was the first person in The State of Maine to receive a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. Aaron opened Maine Jiu Jitsu Academy in 1999 and ran the Academy full time for eleven years. In 2010 Aaron opened Blake Academy and later Aaron Blake Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While running these Academies, Aaron produced dozens of champions in the IBJJF, NAGA, Grapplers Quest and many others. After 9/11 Aaron was asked to train The Maine Army National Guard in preparation for their deployments. Aaron has trained many MMA Fighters including early UFC fighter Kimo Leopolodo. He has written articles on fitness and performance for Jiu Jitsu Magazine, and he has appeared in Black Belt and Grappling Magazine. Aaron is currently a 5th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, he holds a masters degree in Sports and Performance Psychology. Aaron is currently the Head Professor at Choque Jiu Jitsu in Bristol Maine.
