Aaron is a life-long martial artist and instructor. Aaron opened Maine Jiu Jitsu Academy in 1998 and ran the Academy for over ten years. Since that time, Aaron has taught over fifty Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminars.
Aaron holds a bachelor’s degree in sports and recreation management, and a master’s degree in psychology with a specialization in sports and performance psychology. He holds numerous fitness and martial arts certifications.
Aaron has been fascinated by physical fitness and body movement his whole life. This interest led him to athletics and martial arts at a young age. He earned black belts in Karate and Judo before finding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1997.
Aaron was one of the pioneers of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the State of Maine, and he was the first person in Maine to be promoted to the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. Aaron received his blue belt from Helio and Royce Gracie in 1998, his purple belt in 2001, his brown belt in 2003, and his black belt in 2005, all from Joe Moreira.
Aaron has consulted or provided training for various agencies including the Maine Army National Guard, Maine General Hospital, the State of Maine, Coastal Orthopedics and Coastal Performance Training Center. He is also a writer/contributor for various martial arts publications, and he is a sponsored Q5 Sports Nutrition athlete.
